Festival of Lights 2011

A Dillon-McDonald tradition is going to see Christmas lights!
Remember me last year?

We drove out to Manassas tonight for the Festival of Lights

After a crazy light show in the car, we got out for the winter carnival.

I inspected some Christmas trees...

And kept cozy warm with Aunt Ma.

Maggie played a carnival game and won a penguin!

So many lights and fun holiday cheer to see, I spent
a good part of the evening surveying the land
from Dad's shoulders.

I rode on the carousel with Dad, Maggie, and Uncle Ta ...

Then Mom joined us on the "dancing bears."
That probably wasn't a good idea, however, because
it made Mom nauseous!

Can't wait for next year when I can go on the big kid rides with Maggie!

Lighting the Tree

Dad started putting the lights on our Christmas Tree tonight and I helped!

I take placement of the lights very serious!

Cutting Our Christmas Tree

Last weekend we headed out to Snickers Gap Christmas Tree Farm to cut the perfect tree.

Our friends Kristin and Marty came to town for a visit and joined us at the tree farm. Here is Kristin and Mom and Dad enjoying some hot cider before we head out to find our tree.

I wasn't very happy in the backpack (I think I am getting too big for it) so Dad put me on his shoulders so I could see every tree.

Dad did the cutting while Marty helped hold the tree.

Dad and Marty seemed pretty excited after cutting this one down!

I came over to inspect their work.

Looks good to me!

Dad and Marty made this fun ride for me and I got to ride the tree down the hill.

There was a tractor, of course I had to take a ride!

After they bundled the tree up for us we posed for another family picture.
Thanks to Marty and Kristin for visiting and for helping get our tree!
Happy Holidays!

Trolley Museum Visit

Lately I have been very interested in "choo choos" so we headed to the National Capital Trolley Museum to check out a few historic trolleys.

Look who we found on the trolley ride...Santa!

He promised to bring me all the toys I requested.

Then I told him to head out and start making those toys!

Later in the ride I gave the conductor our tickets.

Here I am with Dad in front of the trolley after our ride. This was a fun visit and I look forward to more trips to this trolley museum!

Happy Thanksgiving 2011

This year we had a low-key Thanksgiving and recovered from our colds! I did find some time to hang out with my turkeys and my "Dudden" AKA Camden!
