Check-up: One Month!

I turned one month old last week, so today I made a visit to the doctor. They made me get naked (so cold!) and put me on the scale. I am a big guy -- I now weigh 11 pounds, 13 ounces! I have gained three pounds since I was born. I'm also 22.5 inches long. I think I'm going to be tall like my Dad. Overall it was a good visit, but they did give me a shot and that hurt a lot!

A hot summer Saturday

Today we drove all over town, and Mom and Dad made me sit in the stroller for a long time. First we went out to lunch and I got all hot and sweaty so I had to have a good cry over that for a few minutes. Once I cooled off and calmed down we went to Glen Echo Park. It is a hip, old amusement park that is now home to lots of artsy fartsy people in D.C. They also have this super cool merry-go-round. You can tell from the picture how excited I was about it ... that's right, I took a nap. But maybe next summer I can ride on the merry-go-round with Dad. We ended the day with a grocery shopping excursion, which I was also not thrilled about, so I cried all the way home to let my parents know how annoyed I was. Once we got home Mom and Dad gave me lots of kisses and cuddles and apologized for making me ride in that darn car seat---it's so constricting! But overall it was a fun day, I saw lots of neat places in the city, and Mom and Dad enjoyed getting some fresh air.

Exercise

Lately I've been doing a lot of exercise. Mom and Dad put me on my stomach and make me do "tummy time." I find it rather annoying, but apparently it will make me big and strong.

Sometimes I can lift my head up and get my legs high in the air!

It's exhausting.

I also have to stop to pet Camden from time to time.

And then Camden gives me kisses!

One month old!

Yesterday I turned one month old. Mom and Dad took me out for a beer to celebrate. Just kidding.

Next week I will go for my one-month doctor appointment. Mom is scared about all the shots I am going to get because she knows I will probably cry a lot. But I will be just fine. I have a feeling that I have gained a lot of weight since my last visit to see Dr. Jones. My diapers sure are tight!

Today I went to visit "Brown House," which is the daycare I am going to attend when Mom goes back to work at Holton. It is a very happening place. I met lots of nice ladies who are going to take care of me, and many new friends to play with. Then I went out for lunch in my new golf shorts. Good times.

Down with the Prez

It turns out that the President heard about me already! I guess I am very important. A big envelope from the White House came in the mail. Mr. and Mrs. Obama congratulated Mom and Dad on my arrival. Very cool.

(Mom and Dad are still trying to figure out how this happened...)

Out and about

This week I made it out for lunch and met some more of Mom and Dad's friends. On Friday I went to Bethesda for lunch and got to meet Mom's friend Kristie.

Saturday, Andrew and Mark came by for lunch (but I forgot to take a pic! My bad.) and then I went to my first housewarming party. Dad put me in the baby bjorn and I was snug as a bug. Dad is molding me into an real estate tycoon.

Then it was time to head to Aunt Ma and Uncle Ta's house for a fancy italian dinner. I ate formula and hung with my friend Maggie, but Mom and Dad enjoyed Aunt Ma's delicious cooking. Dad gave Maggie a Thomas the Train tent to play in -- I'm excited to play in the Thomas tent with Maggie when I'm old enough.

Where's Sam?

Can you find the real baby?

Taking after my dad!

My dad loves to say "that's what she said," which thoroughly annoys my mom. So I thought I'd try to annoy her too! (Thanks, Aunt Ma, for my silly onesie.)

A busy start to life!

It has been a very busy few weeks for me! First, I was born at 9:44am on July 26th, 2010 at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. I'm a Washingtonian! I weighed 8 lbs. and 13 ounces and was 20.5 inches long (but I think I'm going to get bigger). My mom and dad cried a lot, so I'm not going to show any pictures of them!

We were whisked away to our tiny hospital room where I got to meet some of my grandparents, who had come all the way from Savannah, Georgia for my arrival. Later that night my grandparents from Chicago arrived too!

I also had some other cool visitors, like Elizabeth (who brought me pretty flowers for my hospital room), and Ryan, my mom's old roommate.
Then Mom and Dad took me home to our house in Brookland. I met my dog, Camden, checked out my cool bedroom, and slept a lot.

In the past two weeks I have spent my time eating, sleeping, pooping, a little fussing, and gaining weight. More to come once I figure this blog thing out better!
