Buongiorna Roma!

My first day in Roma!  Well, actually, yesterday was the first.  But since I was still recovering from my "episode" on the airplane (and taxi ride) we took it easy and just chilled in our apartment and neighborhood.   However, I'm feeling much better now and was able to take in the sights.

Dad planned the day.  We took the public transport, Tram 8, from Trastevere to Centro (the center of the city).  From there we walked to the Vittorio Emanuelle II Monument (below).

Climbing the grand staircase to Piazza di Campidoglio on Capitoline Hill

I also saw lots of water fountains.

And looked out the "Sam-sized windows" from the top of the monument.

Great view of the Roman Forum

The afternoon included a stop for gelato in Testaccio.
